Mission
The spirit of the DEAP Faculty and Staff Mentoring Initiative grows out of the original objective of DEAP, which is to create a community of support for students as they adjust to the culture of higher education. As such, the mission of the DEAP Faculty and Staff Mentoring Initiative is to create and to maintain a community of support to assist DEAP scholars in their transition from graduation to postgraduation goals.
In order to support students in navigating their options and to prepare them to approach their options with success, DEAP has developed the Faculty and Staff Mentoring Initiative with the following objectives:

- The mentor and mentee will establish a personal, trusting, and safe relationship.
- The mentor and mentee will develop an engaging relationship that will foster the development of personal, academic, and professional areas for growth.
- The mentor and mentee will identify and respond to external and internal obstacles acting on the mentee.
- The mentor and mentee will identify a set of goals and resources to achieve areas of growth.
